Latest News Updates Tuesday, September 27th Poster Design and Completion: With the posters designed and printed, we are now moving onto distribution. If you could assist us by speaking to people in your area, please contact me at: daniel@consultcardiff.org. Friday, September 4th: Website Development Begins: As discussed in last nights meeting I have begun the construction of a website to advertise the group and create awareness and inform residents of Cardiff. Thursday, September 3rd: Jug and Bottle Meeting: We discussed: Strategies to advertise our group and plans. These included; Posters (thanks Paul Clements for the witty and creative design!), the Facebook Group and the new wesbite. We also talked about Bilingual media to attract both English and Welsh speaking citizens. Wednesday, September 2nd: Campaign Begins: Our mission has begun. With the 28th August marking the final day of Cardiff County Council's "Local Development Plan - Alternative Sites Consultation" - We know it is now up to us to try and persuade the council to reconsult. Watch this space for further updates!!
Introduction
This is a group started to stop houses and other developments being built on our beautiful natural green surroundings. It is also a group for people who are against any 'Green Field' development in Cardiff. Waterhall Site: The current Landowner, the 3rd Earl of Plymouth wants to sell the land to developers. The developers want to build 4000 homes on the fields around Fairwater and Pentrebane. This means that new homes will be built next our old ones. That will turn Fairwater and Pentrebane into a real ghetto! The new area will be filled with Yuppies, far from the nice local people we have who have been here all their lives! Most of the Green space you can see in that photo will be gone! All that will be left will be the woods (which are protected) and the playing fields near the leisure centre. The 'B' roads in our area can barely handle the traffic at the moment... So just imagine what 4000 homes with an extra 6000+ cars will do! The developers show plans to build a new "segregated bus route" from the newly approved "International Business Park" at Junction 33 of the M4 on the old dismantled railway behind Fairwater leisure centre fields... The proposed route will go through people's homes and across Cantonian's playing fields. Plans were leaked recently of a possible sell-off of Cantonian's school fields. This would be the perfect excuse for building this "bus route" through Cantonian's land. Slowly piecing the puzzle together. Doesn't it make you wonder? If these plans are allowed to go ahead.. it will open the flood gates for further development!! If you like Fairwater and Pentrebane being next to the countryside, or if you are against further expansion of our city on green field developments; join this group and spread the word!
